Belgium rallied for a 3-2 consolation victory over India in the fifth and final test at the Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium on Thursday. India claimed the five-match series 3-1. The first match had ended in a 4-4 draw.
Birendra Lakra put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute after he sounded the board in the 21st minute. Belgium found the equalizer through Briels Thomas following a defensive lapse in the 22nd minute. Both the teams were 1-1 at the breather.
Ajitesh Rai helped India take the lead in the 50th minute but Jerome Dekeyser leveled the scores 2-2 after converting Belgium's second penalty corner in the 59th minute.
A minute later Cedric Charlier scored, which turned out to be the winner. Though India were not complacent having won the series, Belgum were able to take the consolation win as they cashed in on the chances that came their way.
