Chetri back in Indian squad

After almost seven months, Bharat Chetri finds himself back in the national team after being named in the 24-member squad for the five-match hockey Test series against Belgium and the practice tour of Western Australia.

Chetri's chances of staging a comeback received a definite boost after Adrian D'Souza opted out of the camp following a hamstring injury last week.

Keeping with the 'go-for-youth' theme, a few players from the junior team have also been named in the squad announced here on Tuesday. Drag flicker Diwakar Ram, Samir Baxla, Birender Lakra, Ajitesh Rai and Bikas Toppo are the few who have found berths in the national team after a string of impressive performances with the junior team.

Of the lot, Diwakar and Baxla, who are playing in the eight-nation tournament in Kuala Lumpur, will join the team on January 28.
