India clinched the five-Test hockey series by defeating Belgium 2-1 in the fourth tie and taking an unassailable 3-0 lead at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Wednesday.
India went into attack mode straight away and sounded the board through Rajpal Singh in just 30 seconds of the start of the match.
The visitors drew parity in the 20th minute through forward Jerome Truyens but only eight minutes later India, bolstered by junior stars Samir Baxla and Diwakar Ram who have returned from a successful tour of Malaysia, clinched back the lead to make it 2-1.
Diwakar Ram made good use of a dummy by Ramachandra Raghunath following their second penalty corner to score the goal for the hosts.
The fifth and final match will be played at the same venue on Thursday.
