The bin men, builders and taxi-drivers of Havant and Waterlooville bowed out of the FA Cup with an Anfield ovation ringing in their ears after twice leading mighty Liverpool in their fourth round tie.
The Conference South part-timers, who stand 123 places below their hosts in English football's league hierarchy, finally succumbed to a 5-2 defeat.
But the last non-league survivors departed with their heads held high and a store of memories to savour.
One of those will be the moment when Richard Pacquette headed them into the lead from an eighth-minute corner.
A superb strike from Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva got Liverpool level but the home crowd was stunned into silence for a second time when Alfie Potter's shot was deflected into the net by defender Martin Skrtel, who was credited with an own goal.
