While Delhiites are struggling to come to terms with the biting cold, Rohan Bopanna is finding Delhi "rather nice and warm" after the toe-numbing freezing climes of Guangzhao (China). Having touched down in the Capital on Saturday morning, Bopanna wasted little time in hitting the grasscourts at NSCI, accompanied by Prakash Amritraj, coach Nandan Bal and hitting partners Ashutosh Singh and Vishnu Vardhan.
The Davis Cup tie against Uzbekistan is less than a week away, and the Indians put in a lengthy practise session, carrying themselves with a confidence that the surface gives them.
"It feels great to be back on grass. We're definitely looking forward to the tie. In all fairness, Denis (Istomin) has been playing well but it's a home tie on grass and we should have the upper hand," said Bopanna after the day's practise. Expected to play all three days in Leander Paes’ absence, Bopanna is waiting for the responsibility with eager hands. "I'm very confident. I am definitely looking forward to playing all three days."
